Revenue per Employee Calculator

Annual revenue divided by headcount — the number a buyer or lender looks at before anything else on the books.

Revenue per employee — annual revenue divided by headcount — is one of the first efficiency numbers a buyer or lender checks, since it's a rough proxy for how much the business depends on people versus product or process.

As a rule of thumb, not a sourced industry standard: below roughly $100,000 per employee tends to read as labor-heavy; above $300,000 generally reads as efficient. A company doing $3M in revenue with 15 employees is at $200,000 per employee — in between, with room to grow into that benchmark. Where the actual line sits varies a lot by business model, so treat this as directional, not a target.
